Come Join Us at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County’s 5th Annual Puppy Plunge, Sunday, August 21, at Camp Letts in Edgewater, Maryland, 12pm to 3pm.

This family-friendly event is a gathering place each year to have a fun-filled afternoon while helping The SPCA of Anne Arundel County raise charitable donations to support its important work caring for over 2,500 homeless animals each year.

This year’s highly-anticipated event offers rockin’ music, ongoing activities and demonstrations, a wide variety of vendors, great food, beer and wine, and a children’s area. Other favorites from previous years, the Dog Bikini Parade and Puppy Pie Eating Contest, are hilarious, not to miss, puppy happenings. Strut your dog in the bikini parade, or enter your dog in the pie eating contest and watch it chow down with the other contestants! Come watch the "big dog plunge” on Muscle Beach and the “small dog plunge” on Petite Beach.

With just an $8 admittance fee for adults and FREE for dogs and children 10 and under, this event is fun for the entire family. All proceeds go to the SPCA’s programs to ensure the health and welfare of homeless animals until they are adopted into loving, forever families.

SPCA of Anne Arundel County’s Foster Enrichment Program

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County’s Foster Enrichment Program places some of the more difficult-to-adopt dogs in temporary foster homes where the dogs can receive extra enrichment training. Many of these dogs are stressed in the shelter environment and improve quickly once in a home. This program not only helps to save a dog’s life, but it is also a great way for YOU to learn about dog behavior and gain invaluable training experience!

To be considered for the advanced fostering program, you must be able to fulfil the following requirements:

  1. Have an approved SPCA of Anne Arundel County Foster application.

  2. Complete a 1-1/2 hour classroom presentation on dog behavior, training, and safety techniques.

  3. Meet with the dog at the SPCA at least once and learn the training that the dog already knows.

  4. Allow one of the AACSPCA's dog handlers to do a home visit with or without the dog to make sure there is a good set-up for the particular dog.

  5. Participate in a weekly training session at the SPCA or in-home (depending on the needs of the dog).

  6. Send weekly progress reports to Foster Coordinator and Dog Handler.

  7. Commit to a time period of 2 weeks to 6 months depending on the dog.

If yes, please contact us! If not, please ask about fostering one of our other in need animals that may be a better match for your lifestyle.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County and Anne Arundel Medical Center invites you to be part of our 3rd Annual Lights and Leashes at Lights on the Bay on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Sandy Point State Park from 6pm to 10pm. For one night only, families and their four legged companions can leave their car behind and see the light show at their own pace. Last year, over 800 supporters attended this fun family event in support of the 2,500 homeless animals cared for annually at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County.

Host an event to benefit the SPCA

Help the homeless cats and dogs by throwing a party or hosting an event on behalf of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County received hundreds of requests every year to participate in events, bring animals to events, and partner with other organizations. While we would love to accommodate all requests, we must be sure we have the proper resources and staffing to ensure a successful event for everyone involved. We ask that organizations seeking our partnership or participation in their event complete this form. Our staff will review the request and determine if we can commit to and assist with your event.
