As an open access shelter, we often get in animals that may not fit into a typical home.  We are currently expanding and looking for other options for these animals.

Did you know that cats are the number one most euthanized animal in shelters? Did you know that many of cats that are put down are healthy, adoptable cats? At the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, we are always looking into other options, especially for cats who are happy and healthy, but may have some issues that make them unsuitable as house cats. However, as they are healthy and happy, we feel that they are still candidates for adoption. So, we are pleased to announce our “Fantastic New Barn Cat Program”! All cats come spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and here’s the best part, they are free of charge to approved barn owners. For more information, please contact the SPCA of Anne Arundel County at 410-268-4388 ext. 103!

The adoption process takes two to seven days. The SPCA reserves the right to decline any adoption request.

What is included in the adoption fee?

Puppies, dogs, cats and kittens receive health and temperament screening, worming medication, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, and have been spayed or neutered

Dogs have been tested for heartworm disease and several tick-borne diseases.

Cats have been tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS (FIV). Dogs and cats receive one month of pet insurance.

Rabbits have been spayed or neutered. Male guinea pigs have been neutered.

All adoption fees go towards providing food, shelter, and veterinary care for our animals.
