About Hearts & Hounds Gala

The Heart Health Foundation (HHF) was founded in Annapolis and oversees the nationally recognized Dare to Care Program, the largest and longest running free cardiovascular screening and education program in the country. Over 50,000 local residents have taken advantage of DTC’s programs and the Foundation’s team of staff and volunteers are committed to reducing the impact of heart and vascular disease, promoting healthy behaviors and educating teens on the long term effects of smoking and obesity.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County was founded in 1920 and is the area’s leading non-profit organization protecting companion animals. The Foundation is passionately committed to promoting the humane care of animals, educating the public, providing shelter, medical care and rehabilitation for homeless animals in need and supporting the adoption of loving pets to thousands of families. It is the last line of defense for the lives of companion animals.

Why HEARTS & HOUNDS?

Not just a catchy title, the SPCA and HHF are two of Anne Arundel County’s leading non-profits and they are joining forces to promote their shared mission. Saving people and the pets they love. It has been firmly established that owning a pet reduces one’s risk of having a heart attack, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and increases heart healthy physical activity. By supporting this event you will bring lasting happiness and longevity to area residents.

ALL THE MONEY RAISED STAYS IN OUR COMMUNITY

Each year, both organizations dedicate their mission to saving lives through life-saving programs that educate, increase awareness, and build communities for better health. Your generosity and support will ensure that both organizations can fulfill their mission and continue to save lives.

The SPCA has a number of major events each year as well as numerous smaller events. See dates and descriptions of upcoming events on the calendar to the left.
Our major events include:

The Walk for the Animals

Each spring nearly two thousand friends of the SPCA and their pets join us in beautiful Quiet Waters Park for our largest fundraiser. They enjoy voluntary walks on measured courses in the park as well as the large outdoor vendor festival.

Puppy Plunge

Puppy Plunge is an event that was introduced in 2012. This event, currently held at Camp Letts in Edgewater, MD, is becoming one of the most popular events that the SPCA offers. Enjoy music, vendors, food, and of course the plunge!
